With one foot in the field and the other in the office
The role of Trade Marketeer is new at EMMA. Luca: “I'm getting every opportunity to do it well. I'm often at trade fairs and with dealers, join sales colleagues on the road and have even been out with the fitting bus. This direct contact is so valuable to me. What is going on? What are dealers struggling with? What do they need in order to sell EMMA even better? Are there enough marketing materials? Does the range offered suit the target audience in their region? I am their point of contact for these questions and their needs. Of course, we can't do everything at once, but it all starts with knowing what's going on.”
Short lines of communication, big impact
Luca sees himself as the bridge between what goes on in practice and the marketing team. “The feedback I get from the dealers is something I take back to the office. It helps us make our communication more targeted and more relevant. Rather than top-down campaigns, we aim to focus more on campaigns that match what is truly going on in the market. That's the strength of this role.”
“No day is the same”
Luca, who is bilingual, lives just over the border in Germany, but grew up in the Netherlands. With a background in marketing and sales within construction, hospitality and events, the dynamics of the role were the reason he applied to EMMA. “I specifically wanted a pivotal role. Something in which I have human contact, enjoy being out and about and learn something new every day. I immediately see all of that at EMMA.”
More than safety shoes
Before starting at EMMA, Luca had already heard of the brand. “I knew that EMMA made safety shoes but, quite honestly, I didn't know much more than that. When I looked more closely, I discovered that EMMA manufactured in the Netherlands – that's special. And the sustainable vision is truly unique. It's not an anonymous multinational, but a brand with a story and roots in Limburg. And you feel it”
Full schedule, open mind
The first weeks were intensive, but above all informative and fun. “I felt welcome right from day one. Everyone is open to ideas and gives input. Soon, I will help in production for a day. That helps me to understand the entire process – from shoe to shelf – even better. That way, I can contribute even better in discussions with dealers and colleagues.”

“In the coming period, you'll find me in different places – at events, trade fairs and with dealers across the country. I want to get to know our dealers and their requirements better. I'm keen to visit, brainstorm about the opportunities and see what support we can offer. So it's highly likely that I'll soon be on your doorstep!”
And in a year's time? “Then, I hope that dealers know: ‘if I need anything from EMMA, Luca will help me!'"
